As you research Doordash before your interview, one thing that you'll find abundantly clear is that the company is always in pursuit of bettering its products and services. Because once that theres a sufficient number of people, its pretty hard to just rely on your memory or on, I guess your stories too I think, allow people to make great decisions very quickly with high quality. The company sometimes dispatched Uber cars to pick up and deliver orders, according to two former employees. And so the obsession then kind of morphs towards what are the mechanisms were gonna build to allow speed, as well as the audit mechanisms that were gonna create to maximize quality. We were looking a lot at the input metrics. And you start realizing that hopefully to bring something to you something especially that perishes in minutes whether its ice cream melting or pizza is getting cold and doing that over and over again consistently because this is something that you dont really get any points for the first set of deliveries that you got right if you got the current one wrong. And when you got to San Jose, one of your teachers told you that you were two years behind your class and in response, you said that you will become the valedictorian of your class, which you did.
