Mario “Mad Scientist” Lawrence

Mario is the muscle behind Music Factory Studio, his own recording facility where he wears all hats; producer, writer, recording and mixing engineer, and ‘riddim builder’. Mario has a distinctive interest in preserving the sound of live music; he likes to ensure a listener cannot tell the difference between a drum machine or live acoustic drum playing on a recording.

He attributes this to appreciation for music her garnered while playing drums with some of Jamaica's most prolific musicians: Dean Fraser, Maurice Gordon, Nambo Robinson, Ernest Ranglin, Monty Alexander, Mikey Fletcher, Chris "Ozoune" Sterling, Sonny Bradshaw, Dennis Rushton, Danny Browne and Dwight Pinkne to name a few. Lawrence’s vast musical knowledge and ear has allowed him the opportunity to tour with Damian "Jr.Gong" Marley, Warrior King, I Wayne and African singer, Lorraine Klaasen as a musician and sound engineer. He is also an accomplished song writer, having written and musically composed the smashing single 'Freedom' for Hawaiian female sensation Irie Love. In 2006 he wrote and produced the number one song "Remember the Days" for Jamaica's Popular Song Competition.

Mario has also worked with: DaVille, TOK, Omar Reid, Kris Kelli, Esco, Nannko
